Renewable energy and bioproducts. Synthetic biology of non-model microbes. Expertise in biological methane production and redox biochemistry in archaea, bacteria, and eukarya. Research projects are transdisciplinary, drawing on concepts and technical approaches from microbial physiology, biophysical biochemistry, genetics/genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, evolution, ecology, genetic engineering/synthetic biology, metabolic modeling and phenotype prediction.
