Our department is committed to the development of new scientists and researchers. The faculty are internationally recognized researchers who work at the cutting edge of science, maintaining externally funded laboratories that investigate an array of exciting questions. We have both a strong undergraduate major and a thriving graduate program in Biochemistry, and many of our significant discoveries are being made by undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral researchers working closely with our faculty. Four students chosen as Beckman Scholars
Four UNL students have been chosen to complete undergraduate research fellowships through the Beckman Scholars Program.
Ashley Thelen of Mitchell, S.D., Valerie Eckrich of Lincoln, and Jessica Chekal and Qianli Wang of Omaha are UNL's Beckman Scholars for the 2013-14 academic year. The award provides scholarship funds to each student to conduct research under the direction of a UNL faculty mentor. The mentors are Paul Blum, Bessey Professor of Biological Sciences; Concetta DiRusso, professor of biochemistry; Luwen Zhang, associate professor of biological sciences; and Melanie Simpson, professor of biochemistry. BRITTA OSBORNE -- 2013 Builder's Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Advising
April 1, 2013 -- On behalf of the University of Nebraska Foundation, CONGRATULATIONS BRITTA OSBORNE on being selected to receive the 2013 Builder’s Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Academic Advising. Obviously both your advisees and your peers have recognized your extraordinary service to students – what an accomplishment!
As this year’s Builder’s Award recipient, you will be honored at the UNL Honors Convocation on Sunday, April 14, and will receive your stipend provided by the University of Nebraska Foundation and the All University Fund.
